On July 4th (American Independence Day) Hugo Race and Shannon Bourne will present a double bill showcase of 2 classic American albums from two legendary artists - The Doors & The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The date also closely marks the 43rd anniversary of the death of The Doors front man, Jim Morrison, who shares with Jimi Hendrix membership of the infamous "27 Club". Both Hugo and Shannon are huge fans of the music they are presenting, and are very excited to be performing these two albums side by side in one show. This is a rare once off event that is not to be missed!
Hugo Race and True Spirit present The Doors "L.A. Woman" (1971): The Doors final studio album was a complex, bluesy, brooding recording that still contained two of their biggest singles "Love Her Madly" and the atmospheric "Riders on the Storm". It's quite an experience to hear it performed live, which is why Hugo Race has taken up the challenge. Hugo Race was a key element in Melbourne's early 80s post-punk scene, was first introduced to the international stage as a founding member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds and subsequently founded the seminal Australian cult band The Wreckery in 1985. He has been a prolific independent producer and recording artist in Europe and Australia for over 20 years. Though based in Europe he is back in Australia on tour and this gig is a once-off event.
